Examining the factors influencing passenger satisfaction for air travel passengers
This research project investigates the key factors that influence airline passenger satisfaction. From inflight amenities to delay frequencies, we examine how personal experiences, demographic traits, and service quality shape passenger reviews and loyalty. Through large-scale data review analysis and academic studies and, we aim to identify what truly matters to today’s air travelers – and how airlines can respond. The goal is not only to understand current traveler expectations, but also to provide airlines with clear, data-backed strategies for improving customer experience and strengthening long-term engagement.
Which operational and service‐quality factors have the greatest impact on passenger satisfaction in airline travel?
- How does in‐flight Wi-Fi reliability influence ancillary spending and overall satisfaction scores?
- What is the relative impact of cabin class choice versus frequent-flyer status on repeat booking likelihood?

Passenger satisfaction is more than a feel-good metric—it reflects service quality, brand trust, and future loyalty. Our project shows that data-driven strategies can pinpoint where to focus resources for maximum impact. As passenger expectations evolve, airlines that adapt intelligently will stay ahead. But this work isn’t just for airlines. It’s also important for:
- Policy makers looking to regulate fair and safe travel
- Consumers choosing between carriers
- Airport managers designing passenger-first spaces
- Researchers interested in service design, behavioral psychology, or transportation systems
Ultimately, this project contributes to a better understanding of how service design meets human experience in a globally connected world. In an era where travelers expect more than just a safe arrival, this research helps ensure their journey is satisfying from gate to gate.
